What's your April intention?

Published about 2 years ago • 1 min read

Dear Reader,

Welcome to April! We are officially 1/3 through 2022 (cue panic). My question to you: If you set a New Year's Resolution, how's it going?

Nearly 80% of people abandon their New Year's Resolutions by February. Too often we set goals because we feel like we HAVE to set them. But we also do it because that goal setting process is kind of fun. Dreaming of the future and what could be is motivating. But eventually we lose steam. Life gets in the way. We get bored. So we put our goal on the shelf.

But I would suggest that if you abandon a goal once you meet an obstacle, that maybe it wasn't a goal you should have set in the first place.

That's why I'm big on setting intentions instead of goals. Intentions allow us to connect our values to our life vision, and then take action to live in that vision every day through your intention. I like to set an annual intention to guide my year and a new intention each month to shift my energy and direction to whatever is calling me in the current season.

For the month of April, I'm choosing Connection. Connection to other people, connection to the work, connecting the dots to bring more powerful solutions to you. With that in mind, here are a few things on the near horizon for Brave and Resilient Life:

  • A new free training to discover why you keep setting goals you don't achieve
  • An on-demand online course to help you creating meaningful momentum
  • A powerful 1:1 coaching offer to create Quick Momentum

Be on the look out for details soon. In the meantime, if you didn't set your April Intention yet, here's a worksheet and video to help you get it done.

If you've got your intention already, reply to this email and tell me what it is. I can't wait to hear about it.

Dear Reader, In the nine jobs I’ve held in the past 15 years, I’ve learned it’s the company culture that keeps people. Culture is key. I was reminded of that this week when I flew to Houston for a work event only to be derailed upon landing by a ridiculous bout of food poisoning. I was lying on the office bathroom floor, embarrassed about getting sick, worrying about how I was going to take care of the tour I had organized for our Chief Finance Officer (CFO) the next morning. But my...

Dear Reader, Have you watched Netflix's The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On yet? The premise, pretty self explanatory: Couples with an ultimatum split for 3 weeks to explore a relationship with another partner. This is obviously a great, healthy way to deal with a relationship on interntaional television 😐 But let's ignore the relationships. I am certainly not qualified to judge anyone's partnership (hello divorced, party of one 🙋🏼♀️). But I DID notice one big red flag that had me running for the...

Dear Reader, I love a fitness challenge. And by love, I mean love to follow for a few weeks until I get board and then faceplant into a pint of Ben & Jerrys. I consider myself a recovering yo-yo dieter. For years I've been determined to get in the best shape of my life. Alas, life often gets in the way, and getting in the best shape of my life is frequently followed by getting in the not-so-best shape of my life. There I found myself in 2020, ready to re-focus and really get in the best shape...
